China May Become the Largest Market For Volkswagen
f the estimate of 1.05 million units sold in China will come true for Volkswagen, the Asian country will become the largest market for the Germans.
Germans dominate in China, with a market share of 19.1%, composed from cumulative sales of three brands: Audi, Skoda and, of course, Volkswagen. To keep his leadership VW intends to launch 12 new models in the next two years, many of them specifically developed for the market from there.
In the first half of the year Volkswagen sold 531,614 cars in China and in Germany with just 3,000 more. But, while home the market share has increased by only 3.7%, Germans have improved the result with an impressive 23.3% and there are strong signs that this trend will keep ascending until the end of the year.
