Peugeot 908 Diesel-Electric Hybrid
Peugeot Sport has presented in the last weekend a hybrid version of the model racing 908 HDi FAP, equipped with a device of KERS type (kinetic energy recovery system) like the one developed for Formula 1 cars. It is composed of three main elements: an electric motor of 60 KW which replaces the electromotor, 10 lithium-ion batteries and a electronically converter which controlling the flow of current. Thus, the 908 HDi HY can operate in three ways: exclusive electrical, exclusive thermic and a combination between both.
The technology that allows a part of the kinetic energy to be recovered during the circulation and to be stored in the batteries from the board to be used then in two ways: a more power of 80 HP for about 20 seconds on a tour without any additional consumption of energy or a reduction in consumption between 3 and 5 percent at the same level of performance.
