Honda is preparing a hybrid model that will be the main competitor for the Prius. Especially that of what we can see from the pictures scanned from a Japanese magazine, the future hybrid from Honda even look like Prius.
Japanese officials already have announced their intention to launch next year a hybrid model by itself, which is even cheaper than the current Civic Hybrid. Honda officials have finally understood that a hybrid car should not just be green, but needs to be cheap to be bought and to count in reducing pollution.
It will use the same batteries heavier and less efficient:Ni-Mh. The starting price will be somewhere around 19,000 dollars, which means that the model will be much cheaper than the competitor Toyota.
