Nissan Launches First Eco-Friendly Diesel Car
The Japanese auto maker from Nissan Motor Co.launched the first diesel car for the Japanese market from last six years, the model SUV (sport utility vehicle) Nissan X-Trail 20GT.
Further, Nissan X-Trail 20GT will be the first diesel car enough environmental such as to meet the new Japanese standards as regards the pollutant emissions. The new standards will be applicable from October next year. The car will be propel by an engine developed with the French partner Renault.
Model X-Trail diesel costs around 27,710 U.S. dollars, and Nissan estimates for this model that will sell a hundred units per month.
The only diesel model available in Japan was Mercedes-Benz E320 CDI. Honda, Mitsubishi and Subaru are preparing to enter in the diesel market in coming years. Toyota, instead, has not announced any intention to do so.
The diesel cars have a balance of over 50 percent of sales on the European market. An extensive campaign of defamation, however, which took place at the end of 90 years, started by the governor of Tokyo, who was enjoy of much popularity, led to the disappearance from the Japanese market of diesel engines, more efficient in terms of consumption and emissions.
But the Japanese government is oriented to diesel cars and could provide incentives for consumers since April to promote models which comply the new strict standards concerning the emissions.
